Relaxer update & End of year length check

Hey loves! Complements of the season! Happy harmattan to my Nigerian readers! Lol. How's the harmattan treating you? There's just a lot of write ups about your hair and the harmattan season, enough to not leave you stranded so if your hair still feels dry like straw, you're not doing something right. Best still, wear a wig or do a protective style so you don't damage your hair by putting your hands in it every single day. I also did a post about the how to curb dryness in the harmattan so you can check it out here.

Harmattan and Hair: How I curb dryness

So my loves, ive been away from the blog so long and I've missed you all.

Relaxer update: Mid year length check

Hello loves! I'm back but with a relaxer update. I know I said in my last post that I was going to relax my hair at 12 weeks post but a little over 11weeks post and I just couldn't wait any longer! Lol.

I followed my usual relaxer procedures,  I always texlax my hair not relax bone straight. This time I used ORS No-lye relaxer (box type).

Here's a pic of my wet hair after relaxing:

Relaxer Update after 11weeks stretch

Ponytail (after flat ironing)

My third Relaxer touch up for the year was days back at 11weeks post relaxer. I intended stretching till 12weeks but my hair refused to comply and the only thing I did to it was moisturise and seal...single braid and tuck. I wasn't feeling well and the thought of having another washday and loosing my ends due to matting while  detangling made me sicker than I was.

For this relaxer day, I still used Creme of Nature Argan oil No lye relaxer. I followed the same procedures in my previous relaxer days.

Relaxer/Texlax Update and length check

Hey loves! This is actually a very late post a I am about 3 weeks post relaxer already and I apologise for that.

I resolved not to do long stretches this year  but I didn't know I would relax as early as 9weeks post. Actually the basis for relaxing this early is not the number of days I am post relaxer buy the amount of new growth I achieved within that time. I can tell u that I had not less than one and a half inches. Detangling my new growth was so starting to give me headaches.. Lol

Early Relaxer/Texlax update

My hair 80% air dried after relaxer touch up

Hey dearies! Been a while, I started strong with washday themes for this month but fell off with posting the washday posts because I had occupied my time with school activities.  The past week has really been stressful for me. I was sure that this stress would affect the health of my hair because I wouldn't have the patience  (and energy) to work with my hair.  I'm 10 weeks and 5days post relaxer with 11 weeks worth of very under processed hair from my previous relaxer so parting my hair for moisturising and detangling in general became tedious to me.

Relaxer update: Big Trim - Back to Armpit Length

Screams happily! Lol

So I finally got the courage to not only trim off those thin ends but I also flat ironed my hair... All by myself! *big grin*

(my sincere apologies to you my dear readers who have been waiting for this post since I shared some pictures of my trim on installation. The delay wasn't intentional I had a lot of problems adding pictures to this post and to top it all my new phone wasn't working well. I hope you understand :-))

Now I know you're probably  thinking, what's the big deal? Well flat ironing my hair all by myself feels like a big achievement to me lol. I simply got tired of seeing my ends look thin and break off by the day so I went out in search of my usual relaxer; ORS  no lye relaxer. Unluckily I didn't find it anywhere in the stores in my area.  I literally walked into all the stores  in my area but to no avail. At the last shop (a supermarket actually) I decided I'll still relax that day and so I got the one relaxer that caught my eye.

Relaxer Update

So I didn't make it to 20weeks post. However, I relaxed my hair at 19 weeks post relaxer. I think we are getting better at relaxer stretching *big grin*

I started by detangling my hair the night before relaxer day. I Sectioned my hair into 4 and sprayed some detangler (Mane n tail detangler) to each of the four quadrants and detangled gently, a section at a time. I used my fingers first and then used a comb.Detangling wasn't much of a hassle for me but I had mostly clumped strands which I separated gently Then the next day I followed my relaxer routine which you can findHERE Application  and smoothening took me 15minutes.

Hey cuties! Hope were all doing great today? Its finally here! My relaxer update and length check. Its my 1year and 6months hhj mark and I'm happy I have come this far. I will put up a progress picture post soon so you all can see where I come from.

I'd like to hint that this is just a brief relaxer day procedure as I plan to explain how I relax and why... I overlap my relaxers... I bet you didnt Know...

Alright here's what happened.
(1) detangled and twisted my hair into sections the day before relaxing...this took me 2 hours. Here is a pic of how much New growth I had.

Relaxer Update and Length Check

I apologise for not posting this earlier...i had prepared this post before travelling for the christmas celebration but i had problems publishing this post while there. I published this as soon as i arrived.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to you all!!!  This is my last update of the year. I relaxed my hair on the 18th of December and did a length check on blow dried hair

            Relaxer procedure:
I used Organic Root Stimulator No-lye Relaxer in normal strength. I started by parting my hair in four sections. Then detangled and twisted it into smaller 1inch sections on each of the four sections. Application and smoothing took me 12mins and i made sure i applied the new relaxer only to my new growth (it still overlapped a bit though). I'm new to using this relaxer and i didnt even do the strand test before relaxing. I think the front sections straighten more than i normally texlaxed it. This is surprising because the front parts of my hair is usually resistant and the back straightened easily but with this relaxer the reverse was the case. I plan on using half the activator next time i relax and that would be sometime in April because i don't want to end up switching from texlaxed to bone straight...i don't like the look of bone straight hair.

           Current Length:
I'm still at armpit length about 2 inches away from bra strap length. About the length called below shoulder blade length.

I'm really happy with the health of my hair. The improvement in a year is so amazing. Dearies... being on a hair journey is fun and worth it too, just don't give up and dont compare your growth and progress with someone else. So there...this is the length check i will be using for the 6inches in 12months challenge hosted by Naijahaircangrow. I will give mini updates as i go along till the end of the year. I will do a mini length check at mid year next year. If possible join the challenge too as it will help you alot with being serious with hair growth and taking your hair health to another level...yes it will! thats the power of being in a competition :-)

Will be back with my sisters 1 year natural heathy hair journey pics...enjoy the season.

                                                                    *much love*
