Hello cuties! hows the day going?
This post is meant to address a common issue among women regarding haircare. That is the hair on edges and nape. Here i will analyse the possible culprits causing receeding hairlines at d edges and nape as well as the solutions.
Possible culprits:
* EXTENSIONS
Wearing extensions is a good way to give your hair a break from every day or week styling. If you braid your extensions too tight it will cause pulling and much tension will be placed on the strands of your hair forcing them to shed or break in a matter of days.

SOLUTION
If you must use extensions ensure that the braids at the edges and nape are not held tight... if possible start your braiding about 0.5" before your direct hair line and use a gel to wipe it neatly to help it blend and look nice.

* HATS & CAPS
When you wear hats and caps that are lined with cotton or velvet materials what happens is that any slight movement of the cap or hat would cause friction between it and the hair strands around that area..
SOLUTION
If you must wear caps and hats ensure that they are lined with silk or satin materials because these materials have less friction with the hair strands (there is free gliding movement when you move the caps or hats)

* PLASTIC CAPS
The use of plastic caps for deep conditioning or prepooing is a cheaper way of getting your hair to be trapped in a warm environment so that the strands would open up and absorb all that goodness but the caps that are tightly fitted and lie directly on your hairline and nape would cause continuous hair loss around those areas.

SOLUTION
Purchase plastic caps that fit on your head well and totally covers your edges and nape hair....not the ones that stop right there at your edges. The end of the plastic cap should be able to extend at least 0.5"-1"away from your edges. A cap that covers your ears most likely will extend that far. If it stops right at your edges and nape the friction and tightness can also cause the tiny hairs to break whenever you move them.

*DRYNESS
Lack of moisture causes the hair to dry out and become unable to resist little manipulation

SOLUTION
Don't forget that your edges and nape are a part of your hair and so they need moisture as well as adequate protein to stay healthy. Moisturise and seal them regularly.

Already suffering from hair loss at the edges and nape?? here's what to do!
* Read the solutions above and adopt it.
* Massage a generous amount of castor oil to your edges and nape everyday
* Ensure to use silk or satin materials to wrap your hair at night and don't start directly on your edges, give about 0.5"
* Take pictures to track your progress.

Have a little cutie that you'd want their edges and nape to grow in nicely with the rest of their hair? The above tips also apply to them.
Additional tips:
Never brush their edges aggressively. Don't comb their hair with a rat tail comb and ABSOLUTELY NO TIGHT EXTENSIONS!!! If their sleeping wrap keeps setting itself free from her head invest in silk or satin pillow cases instead.
