Hi loves, hope you had a blessed week?  I relaxed my hair two weeks ago at 12 weeks post relaxer. I didnt write a post on it because i really didnt do much. Just my normal relaxer routine and length check wasnt for this relaxer day. I'm trying to reduce my flat ironing to twice a year so length checks will also be twice a year.

Dry, moisturised double pony tail (the day after relaxing).

For this washday i used entirely new products from start to finish and i love everyone of them. I had you in mind and so i thought, why not write a washday post to share my awesome washday experience.

Wash day: my new heat cap & loose waves style

The Eco styled gel and hair clamps are for a friend. All products pictured (processing caps and deep conditioning cap) we're purchased from Natural hair Products shop ng.

Hey ladies! I finally got to purchase a deep conditioning cap. Yes I haven't had one since the beginning of my hhj. I however have improvised using other means like;

*Deep conditioning using body heat where I'll put on a shower cap or two shower caps and sometimes an extra head warmer just to create and trap the heat. I do  this for not less than an hour.

*Using my blow dryer. i just Put on a small plastic bag or a shower cap ...then a bigger plastic bag where I create a hole and insert the nozzle of my blow dryer.

Thats it....the two ways I've been deep conditioning my hair. Now that I've got this steaming cap my wash days will be cut in half because all I need is 30 mins of Deep conditioning and I proceed to the next step.

For this washday I,

The washday Experience: Amla Gloss Treatment

Finito! Soft blow dried hair.

Hi dearies! I had my washday yesterday and couldn't wait to share. This would be my last washday for this relaxer stretch so I decided to do a kind of Amla gloss strengthening treatment. This treatment is of Ayurvedic origin and I used it as I would use a protein treatment. Though I haven't  done this treatment in months I see every reason to get more of the powder and do this once a month. What it does to my hair is that it strengthens the hair as well as makes it soft and hence the hair is more resistant to breakage and can hold moisture better.

How I prepared the Amla gloss
Using the spoon in the pic as my measuring guide I added a spoonful of warm water to the Amla mud I had behind from making Amla oil months ago. Next I added 2 spoonfuls of VO5 blackberry and sage tea revitalising conditioner. I also added a spoonful of coconut oil. I planned on leaving  this mix for an hour before using it but I suddenly felt lazy to wash my hair and I left it for 3days *oops* lol

The Washday Experience: My bun is getting bigger! Plus CON VS ORS + Elasta Qp

Hey cuties :-)  I'm back with my washday posts. For this washday I followed my usual routine.  I did something I haven't done in a long time which is Prepoo in with Extra Virgin olive oil and I loved it. For some months I had used my Herbal Essences BYE bye breakage conditioner and I was lured into using it everywashday by the softness it gives my hair which allows easy finger detangling.  Nonetheless less I'll still have a bit of swaps so I use oil some wash days and conditioner some other washdays instead of a crazy product marathon lol. Here are the steps I followed for this washday:

The Wash Day Experience: An adventurous wash day and my big Bun!

This wash day had me in smiles from start to finish. Maybe it's because I got to try out a few new products (I have a couple of products that I've been using for a while now that I haven't reviewed I plan to do that in subsequent posts) or a tool which I tried out *big grin*

Washday Experience: A new twist to same Ole Bob

This week's protective style

Hey dearies! I'm back with another Washday post. This one was quite smooth sailing. Before I begin, I had alot of feedback regarding my previous protective style  before my hairniversary. For those of you who really want to try the style but you don't know how long it would last, mine lasted for 5 days. I took it down for my hairniversary Washday because I wanted to blow dry my hair.

Washday plus Mini bantu knot outs

Hi there :-) hope things are going well at your end? I washed my hair this past week end. Before I tell you about washday.... I didn't update you on my mid week moisturising. I actually did but once because I didn't need more. That was because I used something else to moisturise my newgrowth and length of my hair. I used Organics by Africa's best Cholesterol Tea tree oil conditioner.

Now I know you're probably thinking... Isn't this is a deep conditioner? Why is she moisturising her hair with it? Ok,It states in the container that it's Dual (Rinse out plus leave in conditioner).

I have used it on the length of my hair and to tell you the truth, I love it more for moisturising. So this past week I decided to use it on my new growth and it was just what I needed. It got my new growth really soft! Hence, I will definitely be using it for this purpose.

Onto my washday (Yaaay! Lol)
(1)I divided my hair into 7 sections. I needed to work with smaller sections to make things easier for me.
(2) I detangled my hair with my Okra detangler. (I make it the day I want to use it and I use it on washdays only) then I detangled first using my fingers and then I followed up with a wide tooth comb. Then braided up each section

How hair can get so thin when braided :-)

(3) prepooed overninght with olive oil.

Hey cuties :-) hope all is well?! Dont mind my intro....lolz.
So I finally took down the twists and it created a twist out but I wasn't really interested in it...lol, I just wanted to wash my hair because its been like 3weeks

Natural Hair washday: A twistout without the actual twisting but with threading

Hello there! how do you do? Its been quite a long time since I updated you on my sisters washday and hair journey in general. Its going fine and her hair regimen has been the same. She's currently 3 Inches away from arm pit length and her goal is to be there by December. Here's a length check pic.

She's actually full shoulder length. We have plans on straightening her hair by December to mark her 2 year hair journey. We had washday at the end of the month of march and this is how it went...everything is as usual.
(1) prepoo with coconut oil
(2) finger detangle gently to remove shed hair
(3) shampoo with ORS creamy aloe shampooon scalp and it was rinsed down the length of the hair.
(4) deep conditioned with ORS hair mayonnaise for some strength as she plans to get a protective style with extensions for the Easter celebration.
(5)wrapped it up for 15 mins to soak up excess water .

washday at 14weeks post

Hey cuties! :-) hope all is well at your end?! All is well for me too and we thank God for that! I'm home now that means you will be getting a natural hair washday and update soon enough.

I had my washday yesterday and it was ok (at least till it was time for me to detangle...lol). Here's how it went...

(1) The prepoo: I parted my hair into 3 big sections then applied pre heated coconut oil to my scalp and a little down my hair. I then added some VO5 conditioner and then sprayed detangler ontop. I did all these because I feared detangling will be stressful since I didn't detangle it the past week and I haven't washed my hair for 2weeks plus.

I don't know why the ends in the first pic looks invinsible..lol but take this as a first quarter of the year length check...that's if you ignore the plenty new growth  :-)

(2) Detangling: I used my wide tooth comb to detangle the length of my hair thoroughly and then tried my best to detangle the roots with fingers alone.

(3) Shampoo: I shampooed with ORS creamy aloe shampoo but found out it didn't cleanse my scalp enough so I used VO5 again. I did some scalp scratching just to lift off some dirts which may still be on my scalp. Then I rinsed off (I used warm water) and wrapped my head with towel to absorb the water dripping from my hair.

(4) Deep conditioning: I deep conditioned by applying Organics by Africa's best hair Mayonnaise. Left it on for 30 mins and rinsed out. Then wrapped my head again.

(5) moisturised and sealed my hair....fingerdetangled again...boy it was tough this time...i ripped a knot from my hair that wouldnt unravel :-( (it was about 6inches long) and put my hair Into 10 twists to airdry overnight.

The next day after my hair was fully dried I took down a twist and found out that It was matted up again...pretty bad. I sprayed detangler and started to work on each section again and ripped out 2 Other knot....phew! It was a struggle...those stretching for 14weeks and longer, I hail you! Chai

After everything my hair survived and ended up in a thick beautiful bun and I'm a happy girl :-)

Coffee rinse Washday: No step is worth skipping!!

Hey cuties! so is a quick recap of my easy breezy washday :-) I'm currently 12wks and some days post relaxer and the only thing my new growth and texlaxed hair does so well right now is SHRINK! lol

I had in mind to cowash my hair but i haven't used a shampoo for sometime now and you know cowashing alone does not cleanse the hair well. I decided to shampoo.
I have noticed some shedding and i know its because of stress. Its been a long time since i did a tea rinse and i knew i needed one. Teas such as black tea, green tea and coffee contains caffeine which helps block the hormone responsible for hair shedding. This means there would be less shed hair when you do tea rinses.
Now always remember that you should brew the tea or coffee in hot water and then leave it to cool completely before you use it. However...i was soooo lazy last night i decided to just put about a quarter spoon of coffee in my spray bottle filled it halfway with water and shake! shake!! lol (i know its bad...i wont try it again....*covers face*). so here are my steps

(1) sprayed my scalp and hair with coffee (it wasn't dripping wet just light sprayed so its damp).
(2)prepoo/deep condition with Organics by Africa's best cholesterol tea tree oil deep conditioner. Applied it to my coffee spritzed hair in 7 sections, twisted each section up and put them in Bantu knots. covered with shower cap
(3) deep conditioned overnight...
(4) rinsed it out and shampooed my scalp thrice...yes three times!! because it was needed.

Now this is where the skipping starts... i was late for morning class so i couldn't do a quick conditioning :-(
(5)T-shirt dried while i got ready to leave the house
(6)took down each damp section... applied little organics cholesterol D.C (it can be used as a leave in too)
and sealed with Shea butter.
I ran my fingers through each section and used a wide tooth comb to detangle. Separated the bangs or front section and did a loose flat twist then pulled the rest of my hair to my back and did a ponytail which i later braided. A wet ponytail that air dried throughout the day.

As soon as it got dry... IT GOT DRY! lol...understand what i mean?? my hair got soo dry. I just couldn't wait to get home. I knew it was because of the steps i missed but i was running out of time...

How i got back my moisturised hair-
First thing i did when i got home was to take down the pony. Spritz my dry hair with some detangler, then moisturise my hair and seal with Shea butter. Put my hair in a bun and then I covered it with a plastic cap for up to 3hrs and my hair felt really good. It was moisturised. wheeew!

An interesting washday... lots of layered products... i didn't mind because of the harmattan. It will only prevent my hair from dryness. This washday would have been my worst if my new growth matted a lot...i feared it would but thank God it didn't. This is to tell you that there is no step worth missing in a hair regimen. When you have gotten so used to following the steps religiously and then you miss a step or some steps you will surely notice. When you do its best to get yourself back on track.

Do you follow the steps of your hair regimen religiously?

Wash day: Back to wigging!

Hey cuties :-) been a while... hope everyone is doing great!?

Sorry for my inconsistency with posting its really been hard for even friends and family to reach me because of the area i live at the moment. The problem is electricity!!! I will soon move to a better apartment though and my dear school stress is also there ooo lol Thank you to all who keep reading my blog and sharing my blog url...I really do appreciate Sooo to you my lovely readers...Welcome to the last month of the year... may God Bless you, increase your joy and keep you safely throughout this festive season!....AMEN!!

I had a busy school week as usual and i sometimes didn't get to moisturise and seal but what helped my hair is the glycerine i added to my moisturiser.
I'm so happy that i'm this far into my stretch.... i have gone 10weeks without my wigs which is a huge progress for me because in previous months i would start wigging at 5-6 weeks. But i still have intentions to relax my hair this December either at 13 or 14 weeks post. This washday was on Friday 28 and it happened in the evening so my hair air dried all through the night. so.... here's my washday procedure:

Wash day procedure
*hot oil treatment with palm kernel oil
*finger detangled
*shampooed off (lathered twice cause its been two weeks since last washday i had to make sure my hair was nice and clean.
*deep conditioned with Organics by Africa's best cholesterol tea tree oil deep conditioner (i had a problem with the scent...it almost knocked me off ...seriously made me light headed) will do a good review on it on another post.
*rinsed off 30 mins later.... wrapped head with t-shirr for a long time while i flipped through some pages :-)
*by the time i took off the t-shirt my hair was nice and soft...

I moisturised with my kids organics olive oil plus Shea butter moisturizer and sealed with raw Shea butter and finger detangled again, then followed up with a wide tooth comb. Next i put my hair into 12 big plaits and left it to air dry. The next morning i wore my wig and i was sooo happy that my hair would be hidden away from the harmattan sun and dryness...at least it would conserve a bit more moisture under the wig.

Its the dry season and this is the time where our hair can get so dry... even our skin is not left out... keep stalking my blog cause i will be sharing some easy tips to get your hair through this season...
How was your recent washday? tried any new products?? share!! :-)

Washday & Flexi Rod set

Hey lovelies!! I'm behind on posts... so sorry about that :-( I have just been really busy! I'm glad i finally got to write this post.

This wash day happened last Saturday. I was quite excited because i tried something new but i want to use it for sometime before giving a review and that is Palm Kernel oil. I have seen good reviews on it...but hey! what works for people may not work for you...lol.  Here's a quick run down on how it went.
washday procedure:
*oil prepoo with palm kernel oil
*finger detangle and covered with plastic cap for hours...lol
*shampooed it off with my lavender shampoo
*wrapped head for 15mins
*deep conditioned with ORS replenishing conditioner for about an hour

*rinsed out and wrapped my head with towel.
*detangled gently with wide tooth comb..
Now here's my flexi rod procedure.
* my hair was washed in sections so i parted with my fingers to create smaller sections.
*moisturised and sealed sparingly
*applied my lusti organics holding spray and
*combed through a section.
*rolled the rods tightly onto the hair and bent the ends of the rods to secure it.
*all these happened in the evening so i went to bed with the rods on my head and... its not a pleasant experience at all... i couldn't sleep well for a long time until i found a way to lay my head without much pain and disturbance... (things that we do for our hair;-)...lol)
Installing flexi rods is best learnt by watching a flexi rod set video. There are so many YouTube videos that teach how to use flexi rods.
In the end my hair came out with lovely curls... but before the end of the day my hair got poofy and poofier :-( that the curls almost became unseen. I think i know the culprit because i have done flexi rods before and they lasted longer than a day.
(1) i failed to moisturise and seal well. I thought i could just skip this but i should have just stuck to what i always do.
(2) I am 9weeks post relaxer and combing my hair at this time is something i try to stay away from. So i combed but didn't make sure to really smoothen the section out before rolling on the rods.
I love all styles that gives my hair curls so i will definitely give flexi rods another try and i hope it lasts longer next time!
Here's a pic guide.
*second pic shows my hair with the flexi rods in...total of 25rods
*next upper shows after removal and the curls have not been separated...lower pic is after separating one section into two or three.
*last pic is Sunday afternoon...the curls got a bit poofy.

how was your recent washday? tried any new products?
                   *much love  :-)*

Wash day + Product review

Hello cuties! been a while... hope you're doing well?!
I really didn't plan to spend more than three days in between posts. I travelled to Port Harcourt for school and while i was there i did nothing to my hair...didn't wash moisturise or seal i just wore my wigs and forgot about my hair (which is sooo wrong...*covers face*). I decided to shop a little before coming back home. I stopped by saloons and stores around Choba area to see if i would run into something nice but majority of the products they had were relaxers...the others, protein deep conditioners. Seriously?? is relaxing the only thing that can be done to our hair?? Anyways.... i picked up some products and decided to try them for my washday immediately i got back home.
Wash day procedure (New products to be reviewed in bold)
(1) prepooed by applying Gentelle hair fruits coconut smooth conditioner to my twists and covered it with shower cap for an hour.
(2) rinsed out the conditioner with warm water and applied shampoo Roushun care products Lavender anti dandruff nutrition and moisture shampoo. Lathered twice with it and rinsed off with warm water.
(3)wrapped my head with towel for 30 mins and applied the conditioner from the same line Roushun care products Lavender thermal heat activity & nutrition hair conditioner thoroughly and covered my hair with a shower cap for about 3hours
(4) rinsed off with cool water... wrapped head with towel for 30mins then applied my moisturiser and sealed with serum (mega growth smooth and shine serum).
