3years after my setback, What my hair looks like now

Hello loves! It's been a long while! I sincerely hope you've been great :-) oh how I miss  blogging!

Its been 3years since I had a setback that took me from almost waist length to very thin and unhealthy armpit length hair. You can read about my setback Here.

I like to refer to the years from my setback till now as my second healthy hair journey, you can find my progress pictures from my first hair journey 2013-2017 Here. My setback happened in 2018 and I was almost at waist length. I have basically been tending to my hair to get back it's health and thickness. I didn't go for a big trim or cut, I simply grew my hair out and trimmed monthly and I currently have very little parts at the very tips which still have permanent hair colour in them but it's generally not that visible.

I basically followed a simple routine. My hair was mostly in twists and on very few occasions I had braids done with extensions as a protective hairstyle.

After Blow-drying on relaxer day April, 2021.

My hair from my last update in 2019.

Formulating products with the intent of tackling the major problems I had as a result of the setback also helped me bounce back. I have consistently used the Ultimate hair growth system from my brand of Haircare products (which is available for delivery worldwide). The tripple threat ultimate hair growth system has an ayurvedic hair growth oil to help grow hair faster and stronger, the volumising and hydrating hair mist is moisture packed hair mist with a light protein to keep the hair balanced and in great shape for daily maintenance. The cocoa Shea hair butter perfectly provides conditioning effect while locking in the moisture from the hair mist.

The ingredients I chose in my products were all intentional (based on their functions and effects on the hair strand and scalp) and they have lived up to expectations.

Currently my hair is full bra strap length with 95% of the damage gone (as seen in the picture of my blow dried hair above). It took alot of trimming and I have quite gotten used to my monthly trimmings that I doubt if I want to pursue waist length hair again.

Here are pictures of my hair currently from my last Relaxer in April, 2021.

Hi loves! Guess who reached the 5th year mark of being in a healthy hair journey? Me! *throws confetti!* Click on the Hair Progress pictures bar above to see my progress over the years before i dyed my hair.

Well for me its not a journey anymore, you know when you're journeying you have a destination and that destination for us is our haircare goals. Once we get to the goal/destination we stop journeying, we settle and decide to carve a niche for ourselves there.

I'm back, Introducing my First Hair care Product - Extreme Hair Growth Elixir

My loves, Will I ever apologise enough for leaving you guys without a word? I feel someone is reading this and saying "oh well she posted today, wonder what she's been up to that has kept her away!" (Hides face).

I have been trying to get the balance once again. What balance? The experience of having a setback together with colouring my hair threw my hair totally off balance. I'm glad I'm getting back on my fit now! Yes I have actually been up to something and it was triggered by the quest to get my hair back to the length and fullness it had just last year 2017.

Hey loves in this post I will be answering some questions that I've gotten from ladies about my hair in this new state - coloured state.

Now even though some of these questions sound silly to me it actually bothers some ladies and I think these questions are as a result of the general 'fear of colouring' relaxed hair. Again it could be as a result of some myths hovering in our minds and passed down from generation to generation. Oh well, let's get right into debunking those myths.

1. Its said that its bad to colour your hair why did you colour it?

I dyed my hair a second time!

Hey loves! Hope you're good? This is a really long post and I'm really sorry about that I hope you have the patience to read it.

So ladies a couple of things happened between my last post and now. I washed my hair about 2 weeks after dying it and all of the colour came out completely. Fast forward a couple of washes after and there was no colour on my hair except the one left after the peroxide bleaching. I wanted to redye my hair but I thought it may cause damage to dye the hair like back to back so I decided I'd just leave it till after the end of my relaxer stretch.

I relaxed my hair 2weeks ago using ORS relaxer (the sachet type) and while I got my relaxer a also got the box of dye. This time I got the Creme of Nature Exotic shine colour in Intensive red 7.6.

From Black to Red; my hair dye experience

From black to...
Red. Dark and lovely - Vivacious Red

Hey loves! Happy New year to you all. Following my last post I went ahead and did what I have always wanted to do - dye my hair.

I was pretty sure the dye won't take well whether I used a semi permanent dye or a permanent one because my hair is really dark. There was no other way I could think of than to bleach my hair to strip some of the colour off.

I'm transitioning to another phase of healthy hair care!

Quote-
"Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use."

[Warning: its a really long post, have patience and read till the end. This is my last post for 2017]

I saw the quote above while browsing for motivational quotes for a friend. When I saw this I noticed it could relate to me too. Here's how - I started my haircare journey in october 2013 and since then I've grown my hair from neck/shoulder length to midback length. I have been at mid back length for 6months (since June 2017)

Relaxer update & End of year length check

Hey loves! Complements of the season! Happy harmattan to my Nigerian readers! Lol. How's the harmattan treating you? There's just a lot of write ups about your hair and the harmattan season, enough to not leave you stranded so if your hair still feels dry like straw, you're not doing something right. Best still, wear a wig or do a protective style so you don't damage your hair by putting your hands in it every single day. I also did a post about the how to curb dryness in the harmattan so you can check it out here.

Harmattan and Hair: How I curb dryness

So my loves, ive been away from the blog so long and I've missed you all.

Friday, 25 August 2017

Hi loves! Thanks a lot to the lovely ladies that compliment my work, gave me a follow and a few who ordered. From now though I will focus more on wigs as this is where most of the attention of my buyers is focused on.

Hello loves! I'm back but with a relaxer update. I know I said in my last post that I was going to relax my hair at 12 weeks post but a little over 11weeks post and I just couldn't wait any longer! Lol.

I followed my usual relaxer procedures,  I always texlax my hair not relax bone straight. This time I used ORS No-lye relaxer (box type).

Here's a pic of my wet hair after relaxing:

Almost time for a fresh relaxer?! The past weeks in review

Hey loves! I was just checking my pictures and i decided to check the details of my last relaxer update picture for the date. Counted till this week and it was exactly 11 weeks! Its only a week to relaxer day! Ahdonbilivit! (This year i choose to I texlax my hair not more than every 12 weeks).

Now this is by far the fastest relaxer stretch I ever had. Its also the smoothest, washdays were really few and easy breezy. My protective styling game was also on point. I also did my regular scalp massages with a mix of Jojoba oil + coconut oil + peppermint oil twice weekly.

My washdays were just 4 and comb free too. Because I kept track of this relaxer stretch with pictures I can sum it up as;

Edge control and taking care of your edges

I never really talk about the edge control that i use so today i will tell you all about it and also how to keep your edges intact while using edge control. I personally do not have baby hairs to lay down but i improvise! Lol. Why not? If not. It looks good on me so i do it for style.

I began to lay my edges down last year and i have been loving the look. I've used Eco Styler olive oil styling gel (i have run out of this one) and Eco Styler Argan oil Max Hold gel (currently in use).

Wash day: A wasn n go kind of Welcome !

Happy New Year loves ! Welcome to 2017!!!  Thank God for keeping us alive and well to see another amazing year ! Hope you and your Families had a wonderful Celebration ?

Following my last post i wore my wig all through the Christmas and New Year Celebrations because i travelled with my family to Anambra state and the harmattan there is quite strong.  I couldnt resist slapping on my wig. I am back now and back to my normal routine and washday happened today.

It was a really straight forward washday. I followed my usual steps but only that i did a wash n go.
